Follow these steps when your equipment arrives:

  1. Take Photos. If possible, please take photos of everything as it arrives, before you start unwrapping and unpacking. Photograph the shipment from every angle can be helpful.
  2. Did everything arrive? Match the number of pallets/boxes being delivered to the number listed on the original bill of lading. Boxes are considered pieces. If something is missing, have the driver notate that on the bill of lading.
  3. Is there damage? Look for damaged, broken, dented, crushed, or open items. Look for damage that might have been caused by a forklift from under the pallet. Damaged boxes might be missing items. Take photos of the damage. If something is damaged or open, have the driver notate that on the bill of lading.
  4. Review the bill of lading to make sure the driver has notated all damage/missing items/open items.
  5. Sign the bill of lading with the notation of damage/missing/open items.
  6. Accept delivery of all items.
  7. Contact Sydell immediately so we can file a claim for replacement of damaged/missing/open items at 1-800-842-1369. You must make this report within 5 days of receiving the delivery. The freight company will not pay for lost or damaged property unless there is a notation on the bill of lading and the receiving party has signed the bill of lading. When in doubt, notate the loss/damage.
